English
In English we are currently exploring the book ‘The Tin Forest’ by Helen Ward. We will be working towards writing an innovated narrative, where we will be using a range of writing skills to create character descriptions and setting descriptions.

In reading, we will use ‘Expert Tips’ reading skills to answer questions on a range of fiction and non-fiction texts. Specifically, we will be reading the book ‘The Sheep Pig’ by Dick King Smith. This will allow us to answer questions from a longer text type, preparing for Year 4.
Maths + Science
In Maths this half term, we are currently learning about fractions, focusing on key vocabulary such as numerator, denominator and equivalent fractions. We have been working hard on our times tables, focusing on building our fluency in the x2/x5/x10 times tables.

In Science, we will be learning about forces and magnets.
Foundation Subjects
In History, we are learning about the Ancient Egyptians, including their leadership, beliefs and mummification. We will then explore how a range of inventions were made from mistakes and learn about two important people who are known for their accidental discoveries – Mary Anning and Alexander Flemming.
In Art, we will be exploring the artist Henri Matisse and creating collages using bright colours and simple shapes!
In PE, we will be building our skills in dance and athletics.
In Computing, we will be learning about online safety and how to program using Scratch.
In DT, we are learning how to use a range of simple stitches to create a collar inspired by Ancient Egyptian jewellery.
In French, we will be exploring the ‘Circle of Life’.
