Year 3 – Gorillas

Welcome to Gorillas class! Our class team consists of Miss Morison (Class Teacher), Miss Perkins (Classroom Support Professional), Mrs Ashmead (1:1 Classroom Support Professional).

English

In English we are reading ‘The True Story of the Three Little Pigs’ by Jon Scieszka which twists the original story in an interesting way! We will be writing an innovated narrative inspired by our class text, using key writing features such as expanded noun phrases, conjunctions and direct speech. We will then create a letter, focusing on using prepositions. Further, we will be focusing on building on our editing and revising skills.

In reading, we will use ‘Expert Tips’ reading skills to answer questions on a range of fiction and non-fiction texts. Specifically, we will be focusing on our class text to help build further understanding.

Maths

In Maths this half term, we are currently learning multiplication and division building our confidence in our x3/x4/x8 times tables. We will then be exploring length and perimeter including converting measurements. We will continue to work hard on our times tables, focusing on building our fluency in the x2/x5/x10 times tables.

Here are some games and songs you can use at home:
